MEET OUR EXECUTIVE CHEF

Born and raised in Porto, Portugal, Sherwood Inn’s Executive Chef, José Caneira has perfected his craft all over the world: From Thailand to Quebec to Toronto. Having trained alongside Michelin Chefs, Caneira is inspired by the natural qualities of fresh, local ingredients, using them as the foundation for the exceptional menus he creates. A Red Seal Certified Chef, José has a keen ability to deliver a consistently high standard of culinary output, even when accommodating stringent dietary restrictions. His unique touch has quickly elevated Sherwood Inn’s most popular Muskoka dishes to new heights.

“You’re only as good as the last plate that went out,” says Caneira. “I take a lot of pride in my work, and I’m passionate about what I create.”

DINING HOURS 
We are open Fridays from 12:00pm for lunch through Sunday breakfast until mid-May 2022. 
Beginning mid-May 2022 we are open 7 days a week to mid-October, 2022. 

Breakfast: 8:00am - 11:00am.

WINE CELLAR
 

We are justifiably proud of our wine cellar that boasts more than 2,000 bottles.  We have won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for our wine list, numerous years, which features in excess of 200 exquisite selections. We specialize in vintages from Australia, California, Italy and the Bordeaux region of France.

For a special treat, enjoy an intimate private party in our Cellar Dining Room, adjacent to the wine cellar. (Up to 14 people, reservation required. Private dining charges apply). Our chef and food and beverage team excel at planning, preparing and serving customized multiple-course food and wine pairings.

It is the perfect choice for Muskoka fine dining and team building for executive teams, dinner for your key employees or a great social venue for a private gathering with your closest friends or family.

Vintages Restaurant, our classic Muskoka inn’s fine dining room is opened to the public so local cottagers and area residents may also enjoy world-class dining in cottage country. With its elegant decor, delectable cuisine, exceptional service and extensive wine list, Vintages is the ideal Muskoka restaurant for a romantic dinner for two, or to celebrate a special occasion in style. Vintages is open daily in season for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and on weekends only, from November through April. Reservations being highly recommended. In addition to the extensive selection of appetizers, entrees, and deserts offered on our dining room menu, Vintages’ Executive Chef Jose Caneira will often prepare special menus in celebration of holidays and special occasions, including Valentine’s, Easter, Thanksgiving, New Year's and more.  Our Chef and his culinary team strive to ensure our dinner guests a memorable evening and an extraordinary fine dining experience.

Vintages’ 2,000 bottle wine cellar sets it apart from other Muskoka restaurants. With over 200 exquisite vintages from all the top wine regions of the world, few Muskoka resorts can offer the extensive selection of fine wines available at Vintages. Our Cellar Dining Room, an intimate space adjacent to our wine cellar, is available for private functions of up to 14 people.  To make your private dinner party, reception, or executive gathering in the Cellar Room a truly memorable event, our food and beverage team can customize for your party a multi-course menu with wine pairings.
